My Last Blog!
For my last blog I will talk about another Public Relations firm that I have struck an interest for. The company is called Eileen Koch & Company Inc. They cover everything a lot of areas that have to do with public relations. This firm is also located in the Los Angeles area. So right there I am happy with it. Like I have explained in my other blogs, I want to move to California and most likely the Los Angeles area. I want to work in a Public Relations firm and I just overall want to work with celebrities. The Eileen Koch & Company Inc. "has an unparalled nineteen year history of successful and sophisticated public relations campaigns." (Eileen Koch & Company website). Some of their clients have been; Carmen Electra, Jamie Foxx, N'SYNC and Larry Rudolph. Some television shows that they have been involved with are; Yound Hollywood Awards, MTV's NEXT and many more. This would not be my number one choice for a Public Relations firm that I would like to work at, but it will always be an option. All their cleints range from, celebrities to buiness firms to the sports world. I, myself am not a big sports person but there are way more things I could do there. I decided to look outside of just the Garis PR & Media group, which would be my number one choice in the firm I would one day like to work at, and see what other companies are out there. One day I will be a publicist and that would be my dream come true.

Public Relations
For this post I am going to talk about some of the clients Garis PR & Media Group has had in the part such as; Judy Garland, Arthur Godfrey and Phil Silvers. The one I was most interested in was Judy Garland, she is one of my idols along with Marilyn Monroe. When I read that she was a client for this firm that made me want to get a job there. I have seen some of her movies and she was a very inspiring person and this agency was very smart to get her, since almost everyone knows her name from "The Wizard of Oz". Another name that has been a part of the Garis PR & Media Group was John Robert Powers modeling industry. He held a show at Garrison's. His name is still being talked about to this day, his modeling agency is still around and going strong. The third event I noticed while reading the website was that the "very first remote radio talk show in America was broadcast live from the front window of Garrison's on 50th Street" (Garis PR & Media Group website). Also like I said in my previous post Robert Garis, who is the father of the firm, "is one of the worlds most renown restaurant designers" (Garis PR & Media Group website). The whole Garis family has had many legends in the firm, such as; the "grandfather to R.J. Garis was with the New York Daily News for over 25 years", and "his uncle worked with the New York Times for over 37 years" (Garis PR & Media Group website). So as you can see this firm has a lot of history and memories. That is why I would love to work there someday in the future.

Being a Publicist.
When being a publicist, which is what I want to me, you have to do so many things. Such as setting up promos for what ever your certain client is doing, and pretty much setting up anything that has to do with getting your client seen and heard so they can get more publicity. The video clip that I chose is from the hit show "Melrose Place". It shows Ella Simms, who is played by Katie Cassidy, in a sticky situation so she gives the character Jonah his supposed "big break". Ella is a publicist and needs someone to shoot a music video for a crazy singer who is "packing heat". Jonah is worried about this and changes his mind, which makes Ella persuade him to do the job. That is what publicists have to do they need to persuade their clients to do things to make them a so called "hit" in the celebrity world. Ella is a very get to the point publicist and gets what she wants. She seems like a great publicist to have because she does not take any crap and gets the job done. Throughout the clip it shows Ella working and trying to get the music video done. When in the end, Ella has to tell Jonah that his video that he had done is going to be on T.V. but the original person that was supposed to be filming the video was going to be getting the credit. This makes Jonah very upset since he is the one who made the video and changed the entire vision of it because he felt it was too out there. Ella got very mad because they had a certain outline of what the video was supposed to be but Jonah thought of something else that in the end worked out for the better, which made the original person want the credit. This is something that I want to do, I probably will not be as risky as Ella Simms is, but I could work up to that because that is something you really need to be to get your way in Hollywood.

Public Relations
In my first blog I showed you what my career goal was, being a Publicist for celebrities. I also showed you the one firm that I would one day like to work at. It was called Garis PR & Media Group. As I explained before, this firm works with many different companies and has worked with legends in the film industry, one in particular being Judy Garland. That inspired me so much to see how long they have been around and how many different people and companies they have worked with. The picture I chose was a The Beverly Hills Hotel where Robert Garis, who was one of the "world's most renown restaurant designer", who designed the famous dining and entertainment spot inside the hotel. He has also designed spots like, Tavern on the Green, The Hilton LA Valencia in La Jolla, Lawrence Welk Resort and many more. All these spots and names seem like a very interesting and fun firm where one day I would love to work. As I noted before in my first blog, I love California, and Garis PR & Media Group has a location now in Southern California, the exact place I would love to live and work.

My Career Interests
For my career interest, I always wanted to be a publicist for a celebrity. That is what I have wanted to do forever. I want to move to California, be a publicist and make great money to support myself. One Public Relations firm that I found interesting and is based out of Southern California Coast is called Garis PR & Media Group. It seems as the perfect company that I would maybe like to work at when I finish school. Although for any person doing public relations you must make connections and that could take years. When it comes to the Garis family, they also did say it would be the same with connections, but just by looking at this website it seems really interesting and the biggest point is it is in Southern California, the exact place I want to live. While reading the different things they have done and the different celebrities they have worked with, from Judy Garland to Oprah, this really does seem like a great firm and I would love to work there. They have worked with many different companies that they worked with is awesome. So many different companies that I love. 197So all in all, Garis PR & Media Group seems like a very interesting and fun place to work. That would be a great place for me and the location is amazing!!
